Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), stationed at Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh combated a massive forest fire that had engulfed a stretch of approximately three to four kilometres.
SSB stated, “On 24th April 2025, the 30th Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), stationed at Dirang, responded swiftly to an emergency call for assistance from the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Dirang. The request was made to help combat a massive forest fire that had engulfed a stretch of approximately 3 to 4 kilometres and was rapidly advancing towards the ADC Office, Dirang and adjoining areas.”It added that 30 Bn SSB, a contingent of approximately 250 well-trained troops was immediately mobilized. Equipped with firefighting gear such as fire extinguishers, fire hooks, fire beaters, water tankers and ambulances, the team launched an extensive fire-dousing operation in close coordination with the district administration and residents.

The operation continued relentlessly for over six hours. The dedicated efforts of SSB troops were instrumental in preventing a major disaster. The team succeeded in saving over 500 houses and safely evacuating nearly 1,000 people, including senior citizens, women and children.
The troops displayed immense courage and commitment while combating the inferno, risking their own lives in the process.
