“Joe Bidenâ€s latest opponent: Sand,†quipped one X user, sharing the video on the social network.
Biden withdrew from the U.S. presidential race earlier this year, citing health reasons. Several earlier videos have surfaced showing Bidenâ€s health struggles, which raised questions about his decision to seek another term.
In July, a video emerged showing Biden having difficulty getting into a car.
Meanwhile, some Twitter users criticized Jill Biden, the president’s wife, for not supporting him as he struggled to walk on the sand.
“Speaks loudly of Jillâ€s character…not even a glance his way, sad,” commented one user.
Another said, “It is sad to see, and his own wife not even holding his hand to help. Is this real?”
One person criticized the media for publicizing the video, saying, “It’s sad, we all get old, but I donâ€t think the media should be showing him walking through sand. I think itâ€s a little disrespectful. The media should be showing when he talks to us Americans, not this.”
In a related development, Jamal Simmons, a former staffer for Vice President Kamala Harris, urged President Biden to consider resigning and allowing Harris to become the first female president, even if briefly. “Joe Biden has been amazing, but he should fulfill one last promise—to be transitional,†Simmons, Harris’s former communications director, posted on social media after making a similar suggestion on a Sunday talk show.
“Joe Bidenâ€s been a phenomenal president; heâ€s lived up to so many promises. Thereâ€s one promise left he could fulfill—being a transitional figure. He could resign in the next 30 days and make Kamala Harris President of the United States,†Simmons told CNN’s Situation Room in an interview.
He added, “Itâ€d turn tables on Trump, keep Kamala from presiding over January 6, and make it easier for the next woman to run.”
“This move would absolve her from overseeing the January 6 transition of her own defeat and would ensure that Democrats are seen as transparent and responsive to public desires. This is a chance to reshape how Democrats operate,†Simmons said.
